  • Agape Village is hosting its Valentine’s pop-up flower shop this month where community members can create handmade half-dozen rose bouquets for $20 with all proceeds supporting the nonprofit program.  SCVNews.com

  • On Feb. 6, 1988, Saugus Speedway owners demolished the historic Bonelli Ranch House, marking a notable moment in Santa Clarita's past. The event remains a key part of the region’s evolving heritage.  SCVNews.com
  • Vazquez Rocks Natural Area is hosting a Lunar New Year Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15 at its Interpretive Center (featuring cultural activities for all ages).  SCVNews.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the Sulphur Springs board meeting on Jan. 21, over 10 teachers voiced their concerns about a 1.3% raise that they say will not offset rising living costs despite the district celebrating six schools for ranking in the top 3% nationwide.   • Attorney Brett Greshko (Epstein family lawyer) warned at Tuesday evening’s SUSD meeting that his office mailed a legal claim after a kindergartner left North Park Elementary unsupervised, and he said potential litigation may follow if the district does not address the safety lapses promptly.  Hometown Station

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SCV Sheriff’s Station reminded residents to know their evacuation zone and check local maps for details (an effort to keep the community safe), urging everyone to stay informed and prepared.  SCVNews.com
  • SCV Water will begin installing a new water main along Calgrove Boulevard and Ebelden Avenue on Feb. 23 — the project runs Mondays through Thursdays until June 30 with no road closures and ongoing access for residents and emergency vehicles.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

HEALTH NEWS

  • County officials approved a motion by Supervisor Janice Hahn on Tuesday that directs experts to recommend measures to limit harm from kratom after seven fatal overdoses since January. SPORTS NEWS

  • College of the Canyons softball beat Compton College 22-5 on Tuesday, Feb. 3 (Jeniece Jimenez had five hits and four RBIs), and the Cougars will host a non-conference doubleheader today with Santiago Canyon College at 1 and 3 p.m.  SCVNews.com
  • Valencia's girls basketball team won the Foothill League title with a win over Canyon on Monday and later dominated Golden Valley 82-21 on Wednesday evening to complete a perfect 12-0 season in the league.   • Valencia beat Golden Valley 68-63 in the season finale as junior Steven Irons scored 17 points; both teams await the CIF-SS playoff bracket release on Saturday.  Hometown Station
  • The Master’s University men’s basketball team lost 75-74 to NAIA No. 14 Hope International on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at The MacArthur Center. The Mustangs battled hard in a tight game but missed key plays in the final seconds before playing Embry-Riddle on Thursday, Feb. 5 in Prescott, Ariz.  SCVNews.com
