  • Santa Clarita students in grades 7 to 12 will attend the 41st Annual All Schools Dance on March 12, 5 to 9 p.m. at Six Flags Magic Mountain; the event features a live DJ, food for purchase, $20 tickets (cash only), and security by SCV Sheriff’s Station.  Hometown Station
  • Bouquet Canyon Road will face long-term traffic delays as a new housing development begins construction, expected to increase congestion until April 7. CULTURE NEWS

  • On Jan. 30, 1972, ground was broken at Los Cantiles Park (Bouquet Canyon) for an accessible park built to serve the disabled community. The park thrived until vandalism in 1978 and remains abandoned despite a brief restoration effort in 2022.  Hometown Station

  • The Saugus Union School District Governing Board will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3 (closed session at 5:30 p.m. and open session at 6:30 p.m.).  SCVNews.com

  • Last Friday, Jan. 30, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority wrapped up its three‑night digital Homeless Count with over 5,000 volunteers capturing 99% of the data — officials said the streamlined process reduced make‑up counts and that full results will be released in late spring.  Hometown Station

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Carol is a gentle 2-year-old, 50-pound Carolina Dog ready for adoption at the Castaic Animal Care Center (31044 N. Charlie Canyon Rd., Castaic). Volunteers say she warms up to kind visitors and enjoys tummy rubs; the shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Hometown Station

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a fatal crash during travel in Colorado that killed a player's father, the Santa Clarita Flyers 12-and-under girls' hockey team played their playoff game Friday morning and won 3-2, while community members showed support with donations and tributes at their home rink in Valencia.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Foothill League soccer nears its finish with key matches on both boys and girls sides this week. Boys leaders Valencia, after wins over Castaic and West Ranch, will play Canyon on Monday, Feb. 2 and Golden Valley on Wednesday, Feb. 4 (match venues vary), while girls’ scores remain pending.  SCVNews.com
