- ➤ College of the Canyons’ Rising Scholars program won the 2025-26 Exemplary Program Award at a Jan. 13 meeting in Sacramento — recognizing its support for justice-impacted students. - ➤ Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6885 in Canyon Country selected 12-year-old Ava Hutton of Oaks Christian School as the local Patriots Pen Essay Contest winner and awarded her a $250 check. She will advance to the state-level contest in Sacramento later this month. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
