  • The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge #2379 is hosting Crab Fest Fundraiser to support Samuel Dixon Family Health Center with an Alaskan King Crab feast, raffle, and silent auction. The event takes place Feb. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lodge and supports local children and families.  Hometown Station
  • Lola Williams (born 1936) passed away as the new year began, leaving a lasting legacy at Placerita Canyon. A longtime advocate for local nature and neighborhood spirit, she is remembered fondly as friends set up a fund to help her son with funeral costs.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal

  • The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber announced Business Choice Award honorees for the 103rd Awards + Installation event at CalArts on Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m., set to honor leading local business and civic figures.  SCVNews.com

  • The Santa Clarita Film Office announced 13 productions scheduled to film in the valley from Monday, Jan. 12 to Sunday, Jan. 18. Projects range from student work to TV series & commercials showcasing local talent.  Hometown Station
  • Local history shines in an archive that presents Pico Canyon and Mentryville in pictures and text, highlighting early oil production and landmark designations. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Animation Career Review released its 2025 Graphic Design School Rankings, and CalArts (in Valencia) ranked fourth among 700 institutions nationally. It also ranked highly among private institutions, West Coast colleges and California schools.  SCVNews.com
  • Registration is now open for the College of the Canyons spring semester starting Monday, Feb. 9, with over 1,690 class sections offered in in-person, online, and hybrid formats at its Valencia and Canyon Country campuses. SPORTS NEWS

  • The Southern Section announced its all-CIF lists for 11-man and eight-man football for 2025, honoring 13 local players across four divisions. Valencia quarterback Brady Bretthauer, who earned co-MVP honors during the playoffs, led the local selections.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Legacy Christian Lions beat Mira Costa Mustangs 69 to 56 at the Pierce College Showcase, continuing a three game winning streak. The team now holds a 13 to 8 record and will travel on Friday and Saturday for upcoming games.  The Santa Clarita Valley Signal
