Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 11th of January.
Good morning, Santa Clarita.
🏘️ Community
A fundraiser (community effort) has been launched to help Karole Kopecky recover after a mobile home fire that destroyed her longtime home and claimed her dog at the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road on Friday.
Funds will cover living and recovery expenses as she faces major challenges.
At a meeting, Lennar representatives explained plans to close Bouquet Canyon Road for a new development focused on moving dirt and updating the flood plan.
Local residents raised concerns that the road changes could impact traffic safety and nearby school access.
🏥 Health
Local Relay for Life volunteers kicked off a *first lap* walk at Valencia Town Center to honor musician Sean Wiggins, who is battling stage four ovarian cancer; funds raised will support the American Cancer Society ahead of the main event on May 2 at Central Park.
📰 Real Estate
Residents in upper Saugus will face traffic delays and limited access to local businesses as the Bouquet Canyon creek bridge is demolished to build a new road.
Local engineer Joel Bareng and Lennar spokesman John Musella said disruptions could last at least 11 months (residents are advised to plan ahead).
