About this event

Jonathan has FINALLY gotten permission through Parks and Rec to teach Banda classes.

Banda is the general category of dance from Northern Mexico that encompasses dance music played by band instruments typical of the 1860's, such as trumpets, clarinets, trombones, and tubas. (Take the class to find out why). Great music, easy-to-follow rhythms.

Whether at a house party or at the many great events and outdoor concerts, be aware that there is a HUGE Banda following in LA. Lots of fun, even for beginners.

In 4 weeks, you will be introduced to Huapango, Nortena, Quebradita, Cumbia, Ranchera, and Balada styles of Banda.

No partner needed , casual dress (boots and cowboy hats optional), and definitely no experience needed.

Sign up through the City-Seasons Catalog Online: $45

Jonathan is part of a local Banda performing team that recently posted a little video highlighting both Huapango (footwork) and Quebradita.
