OZ!

About this event

Follow the yellow brick road to Hollywood this fall. The Nine O'Clock Players, the Assistance League of Los Angeles' much-loved children's theatre troupe, bring OZ!, a musical take on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, to the historic Assistance League Theatre on five Sunday afternoons.

Kids ride along with Dorothy and Toto as a cyclone drops them into Oz, where the Munchkins celebrate and Glinda hands over the silver slippers (silver, just like in the original book). From there it's off down the road with the rubber-legged Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman and the Cowardly Lion, with the Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkeys never far behind.

Expect catchy songs, stage special effects and a little glitter-ball sparkle, all in a cozy theatre that's just the right size for young first-time theatregoers.

Founded in 1929, the Nine O'Clock Players is one of the oldest continuously performing children's theatre programs in the country, and its volunteer members do it all, from acting to costumes and sets. Every Sunday ticket helps fund free and low-cost field-trip performances for thousands of LA schoolchildren each year.
