Exploring Your Universe 2026

About this event

Exploring Your Universe turns the UCLA campus into a giant, free science playground for one afternoon. Hosted by UCLA's astronomy and physical sciences community, this annual festival invites kids and grown-ups to get up close with space, physics, chemistry and engineering through hands-on fun rather than long lectures.

Around 86 interactive science booths are planned, so young explorers can touch, build and experiment their way across the Court of Sciences. Roughly 18 kid-friendly science talks are on the schedule, with a noon kickoff, and the talks are labeled by grade level so families can pick the ones that fit. Planetarium shows run from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m., giving little astronauts a chance to tour the night sky without leaving campus.

Admission and activities are free, and materials are provided, which makes this an easy and budget-friendly outing. Be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time through the free Eventbrite RSVP. Planetarium seats are limited and are handed out at the planetarium booth at noon and again at 3:00 p.m., so plan to line up early if your family has its heart set on a show.

The festival is open to everyone, with activities designed for kindergarten through 12th grade and up. Organizers recommend it for children ages 4 and older.

A free RSVP is required through Eventbrite. Planetarium tickets are limited and are distributed at the planetarium booth at the event at noon and 3:00 PM.
