About this event
Ages 8-16; students outside this age range are by teacher invitation only! An aerial hoop, also known as a lyra, cerceau, or aerial ring, is a circular apparatus suspended from the ceiling that allows performers to perform aerial acrobatics. Here's some information about aerial hoops: How it works: The hoop is rigged on a single swivel point, allowing it to spin and swing. Performers use their body weight against gravity to create shapes and poses inside, on top, or underneath the hoop. Benefits: Aerial hoop can help build strength, flexibility, and confidence. Safety: Many aerial studios and performance venues require performers to use safety-compliant equipment. History: The aerial hoop may have evolved from trapeze swinging and high wire acts, which came from gymnastics and acrobatics. Tricks: Some tricks that can be performed on an aerial hoop include the Candlestick, Bird's Nest, and Crescent Moon. For beginners: Beginner classes focus on conditioning and learning core techniques.
