About this event

Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park is home to over 250 documented bird species, with 78 species actively nesting and raising young in its diverse habitats of coastal sage scrub, chaparral, and riparian woodland. There is both thick woodland that remains shady all year and diverse chaparral on the surrounding hills. An occasional fox or coyote shows up along the trail.

Common birds seen here include hawks, woodpeckers, jays, towhees, gnatcatchers, sparrows, quail, warblers, bushtits, wrentits, thrashers, flickers, phoebes, and Great Horned Owls.

Meet at the trailhead on the northwest end of the long parking lot at 8:30 AM. First Thursday of every month.

Note : Walks may occasionally be canceled due to inclement weather. If you’re unsure whether a walk is taking place, please contact Walk Leader Charlie Wilken at (818) 257-1875.

Listed by sfvaudubon.org (The Events Calendar), gathered by the Santa Clarita events calendar.
